RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR UG

REGULATIONS FOR SIX SEMESTER DEGREE COURSE UNDER AUTONOMOUS STATUS

FOR  B.A / B.Sc. / B.C.A / B.Com COURSES.

ATTENDANCE:

• Each Semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating the attendance.
• A Student shall be considered to have satisfied the requirement of attendance for the semester, if he / she has attended not less than 75 % of the number of classes in theory and practicals separately in each of the subjects.
• A Student shall be considered to have undergone the prescribed course of study if the candidate has attended atleast 75 % of the classes in each subject (Theory, Practicals), otherwise the candidate shall not be allowed to appear for the semester examination and has to repeat the semester in the ensuing academic year.
• Marks for attendance under CIA ( Continuous Internal Assessment ) will be awarded in proportion to the attendance over 75 % .

75 % to 80 %   = 1 mark

> 80 % to 85 %   = 2 marks

> 85 % to 90 %  = 3 marks

> 90 % to 95 %   =  4 marks

> 95 % to 100 %  = 5 marks

REFORMS INTRODUCED IN THE EXAMINATION: 

1. Choice Based Credit System ( CBCS ) is introduced from the academic year 2015-16  [ Credit, Grade Points, Credit Points, Semester Grade, Percentage and Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) scored in each of the semester will be mentioned in the marks statement of that semester with  Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) shown in marks statement of final semester].

2. Examination section conducts general orientation to the fresher’s regarding the rules, regulations, pattern of examinations and Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) in the beginning of the academic year itself.
3. Examination section brings out a “Calendar of events “ in the beginning of every semester about the dates and details regarding the internal tests , practical examinations and theory examinations conducted throughout the semester for the information of students, staff and parents.

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT:

Continuous Internal Assessment ( CIA ) of Students is  being conducted. The total marks allotted for internal assessment is 30 marks for theory subjects, and 15 marks for practical subjects.

CONTINUOUS  INTERNAL  ASSESSMENT (CIA) INCLUDES:

NOTE:

Third internal test is given for students who have missed any one of the previous tests due to genuine reason like health issues, representing college in NSS, NCC, National or International conferences / Sports meets / Co-curricular activities etc.

            ELIGIBILITY TO PASS:

1. Minimum requirement for pass in each subject is 35 %. Overall aggregate to pass in each semester is 40 %.
2. Students should score a minimum marks of

       3. Students who fall short of 40% in aggregate can reappear for any subject (Languages, Core subjects) (Theory/              Practical) of their choice to pass the semester examination.

4. Students who obtain passing marks in Theory but fail in Practical paper, need to appear for practical paper alone and vice-versa.
5. Students, who are absent for Theory or Practical paper in a subject have to take up only that paper.

 UG Courses – classification of Result

ELIGIBILITY  FOR  ADMISSION  TO  FIFTH  SEMESTER:

Students who have cleared all subjects of I and II semesters and should have cleared 50 % of the subjects put together of III and IV semesters are eligible for admission to V semester course.

IMPORTANT  INFORMATIONS TO THE STUDENTS:

1. Internal tests time table / practical examination information will be announced on the notice board of the examination section and the same will be sent to the class room circulation.
2. A provisional examination time table is announced five weeks prior to the examination and queries if any by the Students / Staff are addressed and the final time table is announced three weeks before the examination and the same information will be sent to the class room circulation.
3. Examination fee structure will be announced after 9 weeks of the commencement of the semester and the same will be sent to the class room circulation.

EXAMINATION  RULES:

1. Provisional results of each semester examination (main) will be announced within 25 days after the completion of the semester examinations.
2. Provisional result sheet will be issued to the Students immediately after the announcement of results.
3. Semester marks card will be issued to the Students within 5 weeks after the announcement of the results.
4. Provision of photo copy of the answer scripts available to the Students within 7 days of the announcement of the results.
5. Students can apply for revaluation of the answer scripts within 10 days of the announcement of the results.
6. Supplementary examination is conducted after three weeks of the announcement of the results of main examination. The supplementary examination schedule is announced immediately. Photo copy and revaluation facility is given for supplementary examination also.
7. Supplementary examination marks cards will be issued to the Students within 4 weeks of the announcement of the results.
8. There shall be no revaluation and photo copy  for practical examinations of  main and supplementary examinations.

NOTE:

1. Supplementary examination is meant only for the Students who fail in the main examinations.
2. Regular Students who have not paid the main examination fee are not eligible to take up the immediate supplementary examinations

9. All malpractices related to theory and practical examinations will be referred to the Malpractice Inquiry Committee constituted by the college for the purpose. The Committee consisting of the Principal, the Controller of Examinations and the senior staff members will take suitable action in this regard.

SPECIAL INFORMATIONS:

1. Students information book ( Day to Day book) is maintained in the examination section where Students can write the information w.r.t  photo copy, revaluation, corrections related to statement of marks, duplicate of statement of marks and other informations.
2. Consolidation of statement of marks is done for the final year degree Students who have cleared the supplementary examination.
3. Transcripts of statement of marks are provided to the Students if required.
4. Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC) will be issued to the Students after they pass all the subjects in the six semesters of a course.
5. Candidate (Students) shall be eligible for conferment of the Bachelors Degree by the Bangalore University, if he / she has undergone the course of study for a period of 3 years and has passed the examination as has been prescribed.

   NOTE:

Students will get 6 years from the date of joining the course to complete the

course.  i.e., 3 years from the completion of 3 years course.

REGULATIONS FOR FOUR SEMESTER POST GRADUATE COURSE UNDER AUTONOMOUS STATUS FOR M.Sc & M.Com COURSES.

 Post Graduate course in Mathematics – Started in the year- August 2011

1. Post Graduate course in Physics – Started in the year – August 2012
2. Post Graduate course in Computer Science-Started in the year-August 2012
3. Post Graduate course in Commerce – Started in the year- August 2014

ATTENDANCE:

1. Each Semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating the attendance.
2. A Student shall be considered to have satisfied the requirement of attendance for the semester, if he / she has attended not less than 75 %of the number of classes in theory and practicals separately in each of the subjects.

3. The attendance of the students is strictly monitored. The attendance status is announced at the end of every month. Parents of students having a shortange of attendance are informed by the teachers
4. A Student shall be considered to have undergone the prescribed course of study if the candidate has attended atleast 75 % of the classes in each subject (Theory, Practicals), otherwise the candidate shall not be allowed to appear for the end semester examination and has to repeat the semester in the ensuing academic year.
5. Marks for attendance under CIA ( Continuous Internal Assessment ) will be awarded in proportion to the attendance over 75 % .

75 % to 80 %   = 1 mark

> 80 % to 85 %   = 2 marks

> 85 % to 90 % = 3 marks

> 90 % to 95 %   = 4 marks

> 95 % to 100 % = 5 marks

REFORMS INTRODUCED IN THE EXAMINATIONS:

(Scheme: 70 marks + 30 marks)

                  (Theory + IA )

NOTE:

etc.

ELIGIBILITY TO PASS:

1. Minimum requirement for pass in each subject is 50 %. Overall aggregate for declaring pass in each semester is 50 %.
2. Students should score a minimum marks of
3. Theory Examinations:  35 marks / 70 marks            ( 50% )
4. Internal Assessment for theory subjects: 15 marks / 30 marks       (50% )
5. Practical Examinations: 35 marks / 70 marks   or   25 marks / 50 marks ( 50%)
6. Internal Assessment for practical: 15 marks / 30 marks or

7.5 marks  / 15 marks    ( 50 % )

3. Students who fall short of 50% in aggregate can reappear for any subject

    (Theory ) of his / her choice to pass the  semester examination.

4. Students who obtain passing marks in theory but fail in practical need to appear for practical paper alone and vice-versa.
5. Students who are absent for theory or practical paper in a subject have to take up only that paper.

Note:  Minimum requirement for pass in each subject in Theory / I.A / Practical is 50% 

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA)- Classification of Result :   PG

IMPORTANT  INFORMATIONS TO THE STUDENTS:

1. Internal tests time table / practical examination information will be announced on the examination section notice board and the same will be sent to the class room circulation.

EXAMINATION  RULES:

1. There shall be a double valuation by Internal and External faculty members. Average of both valuers should be taken as the marks secured for each paper. If the difference between the two valuers exceeds 15 % of the maximum marks of the paper, there shall be a third valuation by a Board. Board should comprise of the Chairperson of the Department, Paper setter and an external member. Marks awarded by the Board shall be the final.
2. Provisional results of each semester examination (main) will be announced within 4 weeks after the completion of the semester examinations.
3. Provisional result sheet will be issued to the Students immediately after the announcement of results.
4. Semester marks card will be issued to the Students within 5 weeks after the announcement of the results.
5. Provision of photo copy of the answer scripts available to the Students within 7 days after the announcement of the results.
6. Students can apply for revaluation of the answer scripts within 10 days after the announcement of the results.
7. Supplementary examination is conducted immediately after the main examination. Photo copy and revaluation facility is given for supplementary examination also.
8. Statement of marks of supplementary examination will be issued to the Students within 4 weeks of the announcement of the results.
9. There shall be no revaluation and photo copy  for practical examinations of  main and supplementary examinations.
10. All malpractices related to theory and practical examinations will be referred to the Malpractice Inquiry Committee constituted by the college for the purpose. The Committee consisting of the Principal, the Controller of Examinations and the senior staff members will take suitable action in this regard.

SPECIAL INFORMATIONS:

4. Candidate (Students) shall be eligible for conferment of the Masters Degree by the Bangalore University, if he / she has undergone the course of study for a period of 2 years and has passed the examination as has been prescribed.

       NOTE:

Students will get 4 years from the date of joining the course to complete the

course.  i.e., 2 years from the completion of 2 years course.
